WAFA World Flower Show
Just back from the WAFA World Flower Show in Barbados, what a lovely island! The show was, as always, a wonderful event. To see the work of over 500 floral artist and their interpretation of each class is so fascinating! So much talent in one room, men and women from all over the world using plant material from their region in such artful ways.
I entered Class 2, "Gems", and was awarded Third Place.
The First Place was an amazing bracelet made by Ratna Dey from India with a breathtaking, detailed peacock. Truly a piece of art. Second Place was a wonderful collection of jewelry made by Magdolna Phillips from the UK. (Magdolna, I met you in Barbados, would love to talk with you, can you email me?) The detail of the work and the colors used where outstanding, creating a remarkable piece. I chose to create pieces with "pearls" and "turquoise" to represent a gemstone necklace, earrings and ring that would reflect the beautiful blue water of Barbados.
I'm looking forward to the next World Flower Show
to be held in three years, hosted by India!
